Dease Lake

Community of Dease Lake

The town of Dease Lake was a Hudson’s Bay Company trading post established in 1837 by Mr. Robert Campbell , and was once a major transportation route for trappers and prospectors. During the Cassiar gold rush of 1872, the town of Laketon on the west side of the lake, boasted a population of approximately 5000 people. Remains of the old Hudson Bay post still stand at the south end of the lake.
