Experience The Wild Stewart Cassiar Highway 37

The Stewart-Cassiar in Northwestern BC stretches from the Skeena River to the Cassiar Mountains and offers some of the most awe-inspiring scenery on the continent. Wild rivers, deep canyons, magnificent glaciers, clear lakes and pristine areas distinguish the region.

This route through NWBC has been upgraded in recent years and now is completely hard surfaced except for  4km of gravel on either side of the Stikine River bridge and another 7 KM just south of the Yukon Border that is scheduled to be completed this season (2010).  This route is suitable for all vehicles including cars, vans, pickups w/campers, RV's of all sizes and is becoming a popular route for motorcycles and bicycles.

The Stewart-Cassiar Highway (BC Highway 37) runs west of the Skeena Mountains and east of the Coast Range, connecting the great northwestern rain forest with the spruce and jack pine forests of the Yukon. At Dease Lake the highway crosses the continent’s other great divide, where the waters stop flowing west into the misty rainforests of the Pacific Ocean and flow instead north through jack pine forests ending up in the deltas of the treeless Arctic. A short walk from the roadside brings the traveller to the unspoiled wilderness that is the home of the wolfpacks, the grizzlies, and mountain goats.
